DALETH – The Director of Streams and Rivers
Status: 2nd Generation Elder God
Level: 7000
Avatar: Barint
Daleth is generally depicted as a handsome youth, dark blue in colour and dressed like a king. In his hands he carries a conch shell and a living wooden spear which has a knarled and twisted top which symbolises the circle of life.
Duluth’s conception is a story of deceit. He is the offspring of Tanarsa and Daunam; the product of Tanarsa’s lust and Daunam’s gullibility.
Even his childhood was a sorry story of abandonment and neglect. After his birth Tanarsa abandoned her lovechild, Daleth, to the seas of the world, lest her husband Marnarka find out about her infidelity. The seas of the world were a terrible place in the very early years. Vast sea beasts lurked in the depths, they were both natural and unnatural, some of the more terrible being fashioned through the black magic of Pharastus and Poseidon. These were harsh times for the youngster and proved to be a continuous physical trial of survival.
Eventually Daleth was driven from the open seas to the more quiet waters of the estuaries of ‘Mirrimina’ (Elvish – ‘still waters’) where the water is said to shine like a rainbow. It was in these fairer waters that Daleth settled and grew in strength.
Daleth lived in Mirrimina until he was visited by a group of travellers. They came unto his still waters and disturbed them by throwing in a great artefact of power.
Daleth spoke unto this artefact and it spoke unto him great tales of power and destiny. The item showed him the true circle of life and the fact that the Hunter will always become the prey… With his new found knowledge Daleth took his teachings first to the Flora of the rivers then to the Fauna finally he made his first fantastic meetings with the ‘Civilised’ races of Elves. He taught them how to fish his waters and how to become one with the river. With his knowledge passed on Daleth let his being be taken up through the roots of Yggdrasil and into Bifrost.
