MARNARKA– The God Father, Lord of the Skies

Marnarka is the father of the gods and is especially popular among the learned and studious. He commands all the sky and those creatures in it. It is said that nothing below, unless undercover, can be hidden from him.

Marnarka is portrayed, as a powerfully built man with long flowing black hair, which moves as if blown, even when there is no wind. He is dressed in rich blue robes looking every bit the king. Pure white shines from deep within his blue eyes giving him a glowing gaze, which no mortal can resist.

He is concerned with fairness, rather than the letter of the law and opposes tyranny and oppression as much as crime. Being the father of all the Gods he is closer to Ome-te Llest, the creator of all, than any other spirit and it is he that sees to Ome-te Llest’s wishes. Marnarka has ruled the gods through an age filled with twists and turns for both good and evil. Most of the events that have occurred within Bifrost Marnarka has had some form of involvement, and or course where needed Marnarka has ruled with the fairness of the law. Even banishing his own wife after discovering her infidelity. One only has to study the scriptures to see how much Marnarka is involved with the government of not only Bifrost but Eä and Ae also.

He has also been personally involved in the investiture of some of the younger gods such as Barnardo and it is through him that any mortal wishing to become a god should plead their cause.

The only race he personally created though were the Sylmanie, or Air Elves to whom he invested his love of the sky and the freedom of the air.

Despite his wife’s fidelity Marnarka and Tanarsa the Star Queen share a love that knows no limits. Their bond lends each of them additional powers so that together they are stronger than the sum of there separate talents, a fact that has saved them both several times from their plotting underlings.

WORSHIP

The Element of air is connected with ‘life’ and ‘soul’ as well as ‘mysticism’ and ‘magic’, as no living creature can exist without it. This means Marnarka is worshipped throughout the entire world especially in towns and cities as this is where the most studious gather. Although, it is not uncommon for people to have secluded private shrines.

The Sylmanie have their own separate form of worship, in praise of Marnarka their creator.

TEMPLES

Given Marnarka’s position within the pantheon his followers are valued as arbitrators and go-betweens because of their reputation for trustworthiness and neutrality, and often act as an unofficial diplomatic service in disputes between rulers and nations trying to create their Gods will of balance within all others.

This means that worship usually takes the form of prayer between lessons of law.

The Sylmanie build no temples, the open sky is temple enough.

HOLY DAYS

Marnarka’s main festival is held on the first day of each year, when his followers pray that there coming year will be blessed with enlightenment and reason. Minor Holy Days are held at the start of each month.

FRIENDS AND ENEMIES

His followers enjoy a friendship with all good to neutral religions and cults although they have to deal fairly with every religion when administering justice.

CULT REQUIREMENTS

The prospective follower must have a neutral out look on life and must pass a test of decision, set by the guild leader. Literacy is looked on as a necessity to become a fully-fledged priest of the order.

Within the Sylmanie becoming a priest of Marnarka brings with it the greatest respect and highest positions within the tribe. So only those that have proved there worth in helping and overseeing the tribes are indoctrinated. Though all Sylmanie are lay followers.
